Social Media Marketing

In the last two weeks, we focused our lectures on three main points as following:
1.     How to write blogs (blogosphere)
2.     Social media marketing &Social commerce
3.     Social multimedia computing

All of us have written diaries, but how to write blogs, which are also a type of journal, however, published on the WWW, are what I haven’t known. Many tips are given, such as what are your topics of your blogs and how do adequate research for your topic. When it comes to professional blogs writing, how to achieve this level? I got answers on lecture 4 either.

A new-style marketing-Social Media Marketing, which has changed the way of traditional marketing and even online marketing, was also introduced in lecture4. Not only for me, but also for other students, it is a late-model marketing field, I reckon. It is a potential commerce, which will be thriving in the near future long with the wide use of Internet and social media.

With regard to social multimedia computing, lecture 5 introduces the basic definition, its application and even related research issues as well as challenges we are facing.

Both two lectures enrich my knowledge in the field of social network. However, if I want to gain extensive information or even epistemic level cognition, I must devote my time and effort to keep on studying.

And what impressed me most in these two weeks’ study is Social Media Marketing, which usually centers on efforts to create content that attracts attention and encourages readers to share it with their social networks.

Social media marketing refers to the process of gaining website traffic or attention through social media sites. On this platform, such as Tweet, Facebook, and Google+, a corporate message spreads from user to user and presumably resonates because it appears to come from a trusted, third-party source, as opposed to the brand or company itself.

How to implement an effective social medial marketing? Here are the key things you should be considered, and the key decisions you need to make to achieve a good workable Social Media Marketing plan.

The first thing is to decide on your goals. In structuring your goals, make them as simple as possible and make them as measurable as possible. Unless you have an atrocious brand image, I recommend going for more sales leads

The second thing you need to do is choose your media channel or channels. The simple fact is that one or two channels may give you 90% of the effectiveness that seven channels would. I mentioned two channels because one channel is almost always your corporate blog. We will come back to blogging in future columns, but blog is usually the center of your social media strategy.

The third item is allocating resources. You’ve figured out what you have to do; now you need to figure out who is going to do. Who is in charge overall? Who is writing the content? Who is participating in forums like the Linkln groups?

And the last step is adjust, alter, amend and adapt, including experimenting with all facets of your social media marketing, whether it’s length of content, hoe often you put content out here, subject lines, response forms and so on. Constant tweaking to make things a little bit better is one of the hallmarks of Social Media Marketing.

I hope the guidelines above will help you perform well on your way to a solid framework for Social Media Marketing campaign.

So far, these are my epistemic cognition in terms of Social Media Marketing.

    1. Not only individuals, but companies. Social media outlets give companies the ability to market products and services via booming platforms. Even entrepreneurs with limited budgets can get in on the action by using social media to build a community around their brands.

I have also want to know that, and I think that we should pay more time to this technology. This might be the core area about our furture. According to the marketing, I surely will be the most attractive part of social network, but how we make ues of that is also a problem.

    1. Market not only means commerce in shopping mall, but also trade in invisible world on line nowadays. Due to worldwide use of Internet, such marketing will become leading means of money trading. As a new style of on-line marketing, social media marketing has a great potential in the near future, especially in China. So catching up with the pace of development in this field may be a good choice.

    1. The efficiency and adequate channel information are the highlights of social media marketing. You can access more resources and commercial opportunities than traditional marketing within equivalent time. Various platforms are provided for you as long as you have creation and explicit plan for your business.

  4. The key things you gave in this post is useful. Specifically, I think Facebook is effect for implementation social media marketing for a company:
Basic Strategy: If you haven’t signed up for Facebook yet, you absolutely should as soon as possible. Once you’ve signed up, you should also consider securing your company’s username. Be aware, however, that if you reserve your company name for your personal account, you won’t be able to use it for your Business Fan Page (more on those in the Advanced Strategy), so you may want to create a Page before registering your company’s name. Fan Pages have special rules regarding usernames, which you can read here.
You should do one other thing: search for your competitors and evaluate their Facebook presence. What types of Pages have they built? How many fans or “friends” do they have? Spend 15 minutes (per competitor) looking at their posts, photos and/or videos to understand how they’re using Facebook.

Advanced Strategy: You may already have a personal Facebook account, but how do you extend that presence for your business? You have several options. You can register a Business Account – which is designed for a very simple presence on Facebook. There are many limitations on such accounts (read the FAQ here), however, so you’ll most likely prefer to have a Business Fan Page. A Business Fan Page lets you create a page where customers or fans of your business can register as a “fan” — expanding the presence of your business (because your updates will also flow to their pages). You might also want to consider running hyper-local ads on Facebook.

    1. That’s a good strategy for social network providers to gain more economic benefits from this new-style marketing on line, especially focus on company users. While having fun, sharing information, communicating with your friends and clients and even doing business via social network, we can not only have access to the latest news, but also enrich our lives.

  5. From my point of view, different SN providers focus on different targets. For instance, English people may more likely to use Beibo than American, and Chinese would prefer Renren rather than Facebook. Therefore, these will also be something we need to consider when we do SN marketing.

    1. Yes. We have to admit the fact that different products have different target clients, which may result in developers in different countries. So how to gain the most economic benefit? Developing multi-language versions may be a good idea, I reckon.

  6. I have read three blogs on similar topic. You have a quite special perspective.
The first thing that I want to say is about the graph. KFC has a big advertisement on earth(usa nevada 51 Groom Rd) which can be seem from Google earth. Your graph reminds me that.
You mentioned the procedure to implement an effective social media marketing which I think will be useful for us someday in the near future. And I think one of the most important part of social media marketing is the feedback system. It is the link between the businessman and customer. Do you think so?

    1. The successful development of a special social network or other production must undergo a necessary procedure: feedback and update. I agree with your mentioned facet about communication between vendors and their clients, which plays a vital role in the whole process of social network. Unilateral effort cannot make full use of this platform and get amazing gains.

However, is social media bring world together or pulling apart? I would really want to know

  8. Hi, the presentation of my group is themed social networking marketing. The issue is highly related to small and medium size companies where they cannot afford high cost of marketing. It also involves in large company where they are pushed to go social network. I think yours how to implement social network marketing is very targeted and informative.

  9. The guidelines you mentioned is quite interesting. I think the second thing is the most important. There is a question that how can we choose the best media channel or channels. Maybe it would be those companies' project.

  10. More and more companies release their public pages on SNS, but in my own experience, I don't browse these pages at all. So I think if the public page acts like an advertisement page, it will not be friendly for individual users which will reject this page like me. However, there are more and more advertisement videos on SNS are shared by individual users. These videos are very funny and do not look like advertisements at all. So many users are willing to share them with friends. We can see that virus marketing is playing an important role in social media marketing.
